Why Read?
Reading with your child every day is a proven way to help your child learn to read. By second and third grade, children should be reading to learn. If they are still at a beginning reading level, they cannot read, comprehend, or interpret grade level text. This can lead to frustration and low self-esteem. Please sit down every day and read to, or listen to your child read. If you don't have a book, read a cereal box or a recipe. Look at advertisements and encourage your readers to use the pictures to help figure out words. No matter what you read, I know they will love this special time with you!
